The Challenge

The Sparkasse KölnBonn, a big public-law savings bank based in Cologne, wanted to increase customer interest in their comprehensive range of banking services and financial products while also highlighting their passion for football in the region. To achieve these goals, the bank opted for a gamified advertising campaign.

The Solution

The Sparkasse created a quiz about the upcoming football derby between 1. FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach, with just one question. The bank offered two business seats as a prize for the upcoming match. The campaign was promoted widely on social media, the website, the bank’s newsletter, and at branch locations.

The Results

The quiz was a massive success for the Sparkasse KölnBonn. The campaign achieved a lead conversion rate of 89.6% and an average engagement time of 61 seconds. The total number of visitors was over 35,000. The link between the national sport and the personable and approachable services offered by the bank was the clear success factor in achieving lead generation.
